Hello beautiful brides, Harry and Sally have some great tips to share with you

Tips for your Thank you notes

• Send them as quickly as possible, it is easier to do it as your gifts come in, this way you are not overwhelmed all at once.

• Make sure you make specific reference to the gift (thank you for the towel set, it will go perfect in our powder room.)

• Always send notes to the hostess after a party that was in your honor

• Remember the vendors that helped make your day special, it means a lot. (this is optional)

• Keep the notes personal, hand write them, this lets your guests know you care and are truly thankful

• When addressing your thank you notes they should be addressed to the person who signed the card.

Invitation timeline

Six months ahead

Take time to choose your invitations, remember the invitation you send your guests is the first unveiling of how your special day will be.

Four to six months ahead

Order your wedding invitations, make sure to order all your other stationery needs, ex: thank you cards, announcements, reception cards this way you will not have to worry about them when the wedding date gets closer.

Six weeks ahead

To make sure you have the right postage always go to the post office with the completely assembled invitation, remember square invitations require a higher postage. If you are sending international send your invitations eight weeks prior.

Day of the wedding

Mail announcements to friends or family who were not invited to the wedding, have a friend do this for you, of course we do not want you to have to worry about it on your special day so make sure you delegate in advance.

The Papery Willow would like to congratulate you on your special day and the beginning of your new life as Husband and Wife-enjoy your day

I have been shooting portraits and special events (including 100 weddings) full time for over 6 years now. I also have a passion for fine art photography, and participate in a few gallery shows around the US every year. Also, as a recent bride myself, I truly love shooting weddings and photograph each one with the care as if it was my own. I form great relationships with each of my clients and often also provide everything from their boudoir to maternity and family portrait sessions.

Our Open House

We had our open house last night (5-13) I was so amazed at the support we had. I first want to thank my friend Adrienne Lucas of Moving Moments Photography for taking all the pictures for us.

I want to also thank our sponsors:
Randy Arent of Denver Bag Piper
Suzanne Almquist of by design EVENTS who provided our yummy cheese tray
Tina Kraft of It Works
Linda Malone of Floral design by Linda who provided us with our beautiful flowers
April Schaefers of A New Taste Sensation who provided yuppy fruit and chocolate. I have to say this she came all the way from Estes Park from an event and still came to join us, what does that tell you? we have some Awesome people in our group.
ok now to the fun stuff and yes it will be a little mushy it's coming from me so you know it would.
When I woke up I listened to I Gotta Feeling because I just knew we were were going to have a good night. I believe you have to tell the universe what you want, and this is what I wanted.

We had our elite members who have been with us since the beginning and some new faces that I cannot wait to build our relationship. The Pay it Forward concept that The Papery Willow and The Wedding Connectors live by is also lived by many others and it is amazing how they come to you. I heard alot last night from various people that they felt good feelings in the studio it just felt right, and that meant alot to me. People just kept coming in and I was so grateful to all the were there.

When I had this vision of The Wedding Connectors last October this is what I saw everything is happening and I am so excited, I set out to make a change and people see it and appreciate it, and the room showed it.

Driving home all I could do is reflect on the evening and smile, maybe a small little tear came out along the way, I realized I found my purpose and I am doing what I am suppose to be doing, with The Papery Willow I am creating beautiful invitations and learning about a couples journey in their new life together, and in The Wedding Connectors I amd helping others and making changes.

I want to thank everyone who has supported my vison from the beginning and stayed by my side, and to those who are just getting to know us we hope you stick around because this is going to be a journey you will not want to miss and we are all going to do it together, and this comes from my heart.

Now you can enjoy some pictures that Adrienne took.

Marry the Military

It is a great pleasure and honor to be a part of this great event. I am one of the preferred partners at Villa Parker. I will be doing the Wedding Invitations for this lovely couple. I had the opportunity to meet them and they are adorable, warm, and a great couple, they make you feel like you are part of their family and you have known them forever.
It is very dear to my heart to give back and what better way to have a part in creating a dream wedding and taking care of our Military.

Some great news

I know it has been a while, but I think I am back on track.
I am very excited to announce that The Papery Willow has a new home, we have finally opened a studio in the Denver area, we are now located off Broadway, we would love to have you stop by.
I want to thank my husband for helping me so much, he went driving all over with me looking for great finds to fill the space. He has been a huge supporter of me. We still have a little more decorating to do but things are coming together. I finally feel like things are coming together, I have climbed the next step, and will be ready for the next. This is only the beginning of my big dream, I hope to have a full retail space in a year or so. The studio is open to the public and we have some great neighbors.

Watch out world Babette of The Papery Willow is coming your way and nothing can get in her way....

Our blog winner

We wanted to thank you all for all of the submissions for our blog contest, we are happy to announce our winner Nicole Nichols of Nicole Nichols Photography.

Blog contest

Hello, we wanted to see if you could help us? our owner thought we would be a great addition to The Papery Willow and we are honored to be here, but there is a slight problem we don't have any names and we also wanted a cute little slogan. So we thought we would put on a little contest. For the person who thinks of the best names for us and the best slogan you will receive a pack of  15 thank you cards ($20.00 value) from The Papery Willow and a $10.00 gift card to Starbucks.

So a little about us, we just love helping couples create their invitations, it makes us so happy when you tell our owner how great she is doing, and because our owner has such passion for what she does we knew we would be a good fit.
We like to be outside alot and we have our special Willow tree we met at, he bumbed into me and said it was an accident but I know to well how that all works. We started flying together more and more and now have not been apart for the last year. So won't you please help us and our owner out and pick out our names and our nifty slogan, we would really appreciate it.
You can either post your comment on our blog or you can email our owner at babette@thepaperywillow.com

Thank you and Happy day

Our new Semi-custom invitations

We have been really busy at The Papery Willow. We have created a new line of semi-custom invitations there will be different colors to choose from. We should have them up on the website in the next week, but we just wanted to give you a little sneak peak at what we are working on at The Papery Willow

I love these colors together, this is handstamped and heat embossed to give this beautiful shine.
you will be able to change the matt color but the invitation itself will remain orange.

Blast from the past

Had to pull this clip up again, this was December 2008 we were so nervous but it was a blast, we got to take pictures with some of the reporters after.

The Clip Board

Tricia Turpenoff of Tricia Turpenoff Portrait came to me with an idea, she wanted to give a clients a little something when they walked away, she did not want to give them the typical envelope for their paperwork but instead she thought of a clip board, she wanted me to design something that would reflect her style and colors. She likes the distressed look so when I found these papers I knew it was it. The line is from BoBunny the Mama-Razzi line.
We also did matching thank you cards, I will post that soon.

This is the back of the clip board, she has some cute stickers that I used with her information on it, what a great way to market.
This is just a sample of what we can do for our small business owners, it is so important to brand yourself and what better way then with handmade. Think of us the next time you need:

  • thank you cards

  • goodie bags

  • thank you gifts
the list goes on, just ask us and we will be happy to come up with something that is customized for you, get ready to brand your business

Capelli Floral

I met Denise through a networking group I am involved in The Wedding Connectors yesterday the Hubby and daughter and I were out and about in Denver (love spending time in Denver) I told my husband we had to go to Capelli floral and check out the space, not only does Densie do beautiful work but she has and AMAZING space for events, all I can really say about it is STUNNNNNING! when I walked in my mouth dropped, exposed brick, warm, inviting you get the picture.

If you are planning an event this is where you need to have it, not only because of the space but I adore Denise, she is open, friendly and has a great heart.
Oh did I mention I was jealous? this is the kind of space I someday hope to have.

If you need flowers come to Capelli floral,

I received a 126 Kodak Instamatic camera as a gift from my aunt and uncle when I was five years old. Unlike many of the gifts that I received throughout the years, which were “too old” for my age, this mature gift suited me just right. A trip to Washington D.C. initiated my debut in photography, causing my parents to comment admiringly on my seemingly natural ability to taking pictures. I guess I just had an eye for artistic expression through photography!

I continued perfecting my craft and developing my talent throughout high school and college. In college, I received formal training in photography and art, and made money as a “party pic girl,” taking pictures at various sorority and fraternity functions. After college, I was fortunate to work with several amazing and accomplished mentors, which helped me perfect my craft and establish myself as a professional photographer.

I was fortunate to know what I wanted my life’s work to be from a very young age. I have always known that photography is my niche. I love the finished product, that’s for sure, but getting to know people is the most enjoyable part of my job. I love sitting down with new clients during our initial consultation and really finding out who they are and what they love – and then translating their essence into a finished work of art that they will cherish forever. It is immensely rewarding.

Photography can really be a window to the soul, if the photographer and the client are relaxed and open to being authentic. I trust that, if I bring my authentic self to my work, clients are free to be themselves as well. That really shows in my work and is a central reason why clients come back again and again, and why after knowing them for just a short time I feel joyfully immersed in their lives.

Photography is my great love, and sharing it with the world in such a personal way is my passion. If you’ve never had an experience with a photographer that was fun and liberating, and that produced a true work of art, I hope you will choose me to capture the next moment of you and your loved ones’ lives. Anyone who knows me would undoubtedly agree that the one thing that defines me is my passion for everything I do. Whether it’s hiking in nature, cooking a gourmet meal, or taking a picture, I give it all of my focus and attention. I started learning about photography in the early 90’s and began seeing the world through light and lens. After many years of shooting for fun, that passion evolved into a business.

To me, portrait photography means capturing the essence of the living spirit that lies within every moment. My intention is always the same, whether that finds me shooting a wedding, a family portrait, or a beautiful new baby. My style is straightforward; I document the moment with flair, taking many photos from numerous angles, capturing feeling and emotion. My work is created digitally, so images have a creative touch added.

From the wonderful free spirit of children playing, or the beautiful mother to be, to that defining moment that is your wedding day, I love capturing it all and feel very honored to be a part of those intimate moments of your life. For me, being a photographer is not just about taking pictures, it’s about building lasting relationships by getting to know you and capturing the true spirit of who you and your loved ones really are. The Thank you card

The most important thing in business is to always send a Thank You card after you have met with a client. I have posted this before but only because I am so passionate about it. I can't tell you how many times I have had a client tell me how much they liked the thank you card they received. This will leave a lasting impression and set you apart from the rest.
Here are some new thank you cards I created, I absolutely love the color combo, any time I can use black I do. This is a flat A2 (4 1/4" x 5 1/2") the edges are scalloped. Your clients would love getting this in the mail.

Supporting our local businesses

I made my way down to Castle Rock this weekend for the grand opening of Wedding Treasures a new bridal store in the Castle Rock outlet mall. Heather (the owner) is such a joy. She has some beautiful dresses for weddings and prom. As always we must support our local businesses.

This was my favorite one, of course black and white how can you go wrong?  maybe one day I can talk her into letting me try on a dress :) I never had a wedding dress, but my Husband and I will renew our vows at our 20 yr wedding anniversary, so I have about 5 yrs to plan a wedding.

The details on the below dress were amazing, the picture does not do it justice.
again make sure you stop by and say hi to Heather.
